About the Organization

The AGE-WELL National Innovation Hub, Advancing Policies and Practices in Technology and Aging (APPTA), is a joint initiative of the AGE-WELL NCE Network and the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF). It aims to package innovative solutions to specific policy, program, and service challenges that impact older Canadians.


Job Summary

Reporting to the Scientific Director of APPTA, the Communications and Engagement Coordinator will support the day-to-day planning, coordination, and execution of APPTA’s communications and program execution in support of the Manager of Operations and Scientific Director.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate communications for APPTA’s programs and events through social media, newsletters, and website, including content generation, monthly and quarterly communications plans and schedules.

  • Contribute to developing and disseminating APPTA’s knowledge translation products on all of APPTA’s platforms (i.e. website, portal, newsletter, podcast), including the KT blog, evidence briefs, policy briefs, environmental scans, infographics, and research roundups.

  • Monitor and track KPIs for communication efforts on social media and newsletter analytics.

  • Support the planning and execution of all APPTA’s virtual and in-person events.

  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of APPTA’s work, including, but not limited to, highlighting funding opportunities, building new ideas for products, programs, and events, and promoting a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Scientific Director and/or Manager.

Note

The successful applicant will primarily work remotely, with an occasional in-person presence on campus to meet client needs and operational requirements. Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored, and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.


Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (Communications, marketing, etc.).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills.

  • Possess effective time management skills for project coordination, planning, and organization and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with high accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Able to work in a team environment as well as independently.

Assets

  • Previous experience in communications of health research and/or policy.

  • Proficiency in computer-related document management (e.g., cloud-based storage systems) and communication programs (e.g., Microsoft Teams, HootSuite).

  • Bilingual in English and French.
